Get started on Android

Scribe0 for Android brings on-device transcription to the bedside. A Parakeet speech model runs on your phone: consult audio is transcribed locally and never uploaded.

Requirements

  • Android 7.0 or later
  • A 64-bit (arm64) phone, which is every mainstream handset sold in the last several years
  • About 300 MB of free space and a connection for the one-time model download

Install

Section titled “Install”
  1. Send us the Google account email you use on your phone so we can add you as a tester.
  2. Once you’re added, open Scribe0 on Google Play on that phone and install it as usual.
  3. On first launch, grant microphone access and let the app download the speech model (about 130 MB, one time). It’s saved on the phone, so later launches are offline.

Your first note

  1. Tap record and speak. Text streams live as you talk.
  2. Stop, pick a prompt, and enhance. Note drafting runs in the cloud on a sovereign Amazon Bedrock endpoint in Australia, and the app asks for your consent once before the first cloud call.
  3. Share the finished note into any app (Mail, your EMR’s app) with the share sheet.

You can also import an existing recording (m4a, mp3, wav, and more), either from the in-app file picker or by sharing audio into Scribe0 from another app. Imports can be transcribed with speaker labels. Past sessions are saved automatically to the History tab.

Good to know

Section titled “Good to know”
  • The phone runs a compact speech model (110M), the same size class as the iPhone build: excellent for clear dictation, slightly less forgiving of noisy rooms than the 0.6B model on desktop.
  • Transcription is on-device, but note drafting is not. Android has no on-device language model, so Enhance always sends the transcript text (not audio) to the cloud. It works out of the box on a free daily allowance, with no sign-up.
  • Recording pauses if you leave the app. Scribe0 doesn’t record in the background, so keep it on screen during a consult.
  • History is stored in a local database that is encrypted at rest, and you can require fingerprint, face, or PIN to open the app in Settings.
  • There is no sign-in and no cloud sync; notes stay on the phone.
