macOS
Platform details for Scribe0 on macOS (SwiftUI, macOS 14+, Apple silicon). For installation and first steps, see Get started on macOS.
The privacy flagship
Section titled “The privacy flagship”macOS is the only Scribe0 where the entire pipeline can run on-device:
- Transcription — Parakeet on the Apple Neural Engine. Audio never leaves the Mac.
- Note drafting — with macOS 26 + Apple Intelligence, drafting runs on Apple’s on-device model. Not even text leaves the Mac.
- PII redaction — if you do choose a cloud drafting route, an on-device pass masks names, dates of birth, contact details, and identifiers before the text is sent, and restores them locally in the result.
Drafting routes
Section titled “Drafting routes”Three, selectable in settings — the app prefers on-device when available:
| Route | Where it runs | Requires |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Intelligence | On the Mac | macOS 26, Apple Intelligence on, M1+ |
| Amazon Bedrock (sovereign) | AWS Australia | API key |
| OpenRouter | Cloud | API key |
macOS FAQ
Section titled “macOS FAQ”Why isn’t on-device drafting available on my Mac?

Does it run on Intel Macs?
Section titled “Does it run on Intel Macs?”No — Apple silicon (M1 or later) only. The speech model runs on the Neural Engine, which Intel Macs don’t have.
Where is my data stored?
Section titled “Where is my data stored?”Locally on the Mac. Notes and history stay on-device; there is no account and no sync.
Is the app safe to open?
Section titled “Is the app safe to open?”The dmg is notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper verifies it — no security warnings, no workarounds needed.
