macOS

Platform details for Scribe0 on macOS (SwiftUI, macOS 14+, Apple silicon). For installation and first steps, see Get started on macOS.

macOS is the only Scribe0 where the entire pipeline can run on-device:

  1. Transcription — Parakeet on the Apple Neural Engine. Audio never leaves the Mac.
  2. Note drafting — with macOS 26 + Apple Intelligence, drafting runs on Apple’s on-device model. Not even text leaves the Mac.
  3. PII redaction — if you do choose a cloud drafting route, an on-device pass masks names, dates of birth, contact details, and identifiers before the text is sent, and restores them locally in the result.

Three, selectable in settings — the app prefers on-device when available:

Route Where it runs Requires
Apple Intelligence On the Mac macOS 26, Apple Intelligence on, M1+
Amazon Bedrock (sovereign) AWS Australia API key
OpenRouter Cloud API key

Why isn’t on-device drafting available on my Mac?

Section titled “Why isn’t on-device drafting available on my Mac?”

It needs macOS 26 (Tahoe) with Apple Intelligence enabled, on Apple silicon. On earlier macOS versions the app falls back to the cloud routes.

No — Apple silicon (M1 or later) only. The speech model runs on the Neural Engine, which Intel Macs don’t have.

Locally on the Mac. Notes and history stay on-device; there is no account and no sync.

The dmg is notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper verifies it — no security warnings, no workarounds needed.
