How the web app differs

The web app is the zero-install way to run Scribe0, and it now offers an on-device transcription option alongside the cloud one:

• Two transcription engines: Cloud (AssemblyAI) for the fastest, most accurate results, or on-device (Parakeet, beta) that runs entirely in your browser so audio never leaves the page. The on-device engine runs on your CPU, so it is aimed at capable desktops (roughly 8 GB of RAM and a recent multi-core processor); on lighter machines and on phones, choose Cloud. Note drafting still uses a cloud model either way.
• Accounts & sync: sign in anywhere; notes, prompts, snippets, and text replacements follow you.
• Fullest editing toolkit: prompt manager with tags, reusable snippets, and automatic text replacements applied to transcripts.
• Audio upload: transcribe existing recordings.

Web FAQ

Why does the web app need an account when the native apps don’t?

Sync. Your notes and settings live in your account so any browser can access them. The native apps store everything locally instead, which is why they don’t need sign-in.

Is my audio uploaded?

That’s your choice. Pick the on-device (Parakeet, beta) engine and audio is transcribed in the browser and never uploaded. Pick Cloud (AssemblyAI) and audio streams to the cloud service for the highest accuracy. The on-device engine is CPU-based and suits capable desktops (about 8 GB of RAM and a recent multi-core processor); on a lighter machine, or on a phone, Cloud is the reliable choice. For the fastest on-device transcription, the Windows and macOS apps run the model natively.

Which browsers work?

Current Chrome, Edge, and Safari. The microphone requires HTTPS, which app.scribe0.com always uses.

Can I use it on a hospital machine?

That’s exactly what it’s for: no install, no admin rights, just a browser and a microphone.
